From Raj Patel's blog:

Greening the Desert

I'm in Ohio at the moment, at Miami University, meeting with some exceptionally bright students. One of the conversations, with students who were tasked with developing a post-peak-oil agricultural plan for Iran, reminded me of this fine video. It's the story of Geoff Lawton's adventures in Jordan. Through some dazzlingly inventive permaculture systems, he has brought the shores of the Dead Sea to life. It's tremendously impressive, and the kind of knowledge that'll be vital in a post-carbon economy. Visit the Permaculture Research Institute to find out more.
