It would be nice to think that Toronto is finally getting serious about bikes- after all they spent C$900,000 to turn half of the main waterfront roadway into a flower-lined bike route with this fabulous arch of old stolen bikes from the police garage. "What may be the largest art installation ever in Toronto, the transformation calls for the closure of the south side of Queens Quay to traffic between Spadina and York Street. Car traffic will be replaced with bicycle lanes and a kilometer-long stretch of 12,000 geraniums and picnic grass. Two four-storey sculptures built with bicycles will highlight the temporary new section of the popular Martin Goodman trail." Unfortunately after 10 days it is back to business as usual- years of studies, politics and nothing every happening. ::Quay to the City via ::ReadingToronto
